The Ensemble

HÆLICS functions as an evolving contemporary ensemble built around a coherent artistic direction.
While conceived and directed by Jacques Helmus, the project unfolds through the interaction of distinct musical voices shaped by improvisation, modal architecture and European sensibility.

The current formation brings together:

Jacques Helmus – Soprano Saxophone
Breath-centered phrasing and modal lyricism at the core of the project’s sound.

Eric Teruel – Keyboards / Piano
Harmonic depth and textural layering, balancing clarity and atmospheric resonance.

François Verly – Percussions
Expanded rhythmic color and organic pulse, enriching the ensemble’s dynamic space.

Manu Vallognes – Bass
Grounded foundation and melodic counterpoint, supporting both structure and openness.
